Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between exclusive and inclusive tax? expand_more

Exclusive tax (US sales tax) is added on top of the sticker price. Inclusive tax (EU VAT, GST) is already embedded in the displayed price and must be extracted to find the net amount.

How is inclusive tax extracted? expand_more

Net = Gross / (1 + rate/100). The tax is Gross - Net. For example, 100 USD gross at 20% VAT means 83.33 net and 16.67 tax.

Does this handle income tax? expand_more

No. This tool handles flat-rate consumption taxes like sales tax, VAT, and GST. Income tax brackets vary by jurisdiction and require a dedicated calculator.
